Robust cylindrical wireless magnetic sensors "RF RC M30"

In many applications involving sensors, eliminating cables can considerably reduce the time and effort required for assembly, and some applications are only possible at all with cable-free sensors – for example when they include rotating machine elements or mobile units.

The prerequisites for such a solution are a sensor suitable for radio transmission and a reliable wireless telegram suitable for industry. steute has developed the latter with its sWave technology, and its current range of wireless sensors includes a cylindrical wireless magnetic sensor which can be ordered in different versions – for example with a reinforced plastic or stainless steel enclosure.

What all variants in the RF RC M30 series have in common is the cylindrical design of their enclosure with an external thread, an integrated antenna and a replaceable lithium battery as a power supply. The sensor and the receiver unit communicate using the sWave technology, which can be adapted via the radio module to different country-specific frequencies (868, 915, 917 and 922 MHz).

sWave works very reliably, even in adverse industrial conditions. If the application environment makes additional demands on availability (e.g. potential disturbances from parallel wireless systems or other forms of interference), users can optionally order the RF RC M30 sensors with "listen before talk" (LBT) software.

A further option concerns the sensors themselves. In its basic version, the RF RC M30 is supplied with a reed contact. If the ambient conditions are rougher and e.g. vibrations are to be expected, then a Hall sensor is available instead.

The benefits of sWave technology, not only with this sensor design, include simple programming on the receiver side. The output signal can also be individually configured at the receiver.

Last, but not least, the wireless magnetic sensors feature a high IP class (IP67), which is fundamentally realisable thanks to the principle behind wireless sensors. This makes the new addition to our wireless switchgear portfolio suitable for a wide range of applications, stretching from general mechanical engineering, to process engineering, to the semiconductor industry.
